Crockett & Jones Belgrave Black Hand Grade UK 9.5 E RRP £670 + Shoe Bags

  

For sale is a pair of Crockett and Jones Belgrave formal oxford shoes in black calf leather. They are part of Crockett & Jones's Hand Grade Collection, which is their most premium collection. The Belgrave model is a standard-width model on Crockett and Jones's E last.

They come with bark tanned leather soles with concealed channel stitching. The shoes are a UK 9.5 and I would say fit true to size (for formal shoes / a Brannock device). The leather is quite comfortable so I think this will be an easy break-in. These are in almost brand new condition but there is some sign of use e.

On the soles as you would expect. The pair comes with brand new Crockett and Jones handgrade collection shoe bags.

The shoe trees are NOT included with the shoes for this price. Unfortunately, I have thrown away the original box, which is reflected in the price. Last 337 is a Hand Grade Collection last with a soft square toe. Deemed a forward thinking last of its time, 337 was one of the longer lasts on offer from Crockett & Jones at the turn of the century. With the likes of last 358 and 373, Crockett & Jones would now classify last 337 as one of the more classic toe shapes on offer that still proves popular today. The 337 collection has been steadily reduced with the introduction of more up-to-date lasts, although we do continue to make a core collection of English classics. This unique collection of styles from Crockett & Jones represents the art of shoemaking at its highest level.

Asymmetric lasts, shaped to the natural contours of the foot, gives exceptional fitting qualities. Uppers, cut from the finest calf skins with a supple tannage, provides love-like comfort.

They are hand finished to the highest level in a process which lasts up to 10 weeks. The uppers are cut from the finest'Antique Calf' skins with a supple tannage, providing glove like comfort. Fine aniline dyes in the leathers and extensive hand polishing of the finished shoes, creates a rich depth of colour which will be enhanced with age if regularly polished and cared for. The Hand Grade Collection sports soles that have been slowly tanned with natural barks, in the most traditional way producing superior comfort and flexibility.

Our skilled craftsmen in our Making Room cut a flap of leather into the sole, folding it back to create a channel which is opened up allowing the sole stitchers to get close into the hinge of the flap. This flap is then cemented and beaten down, completely hiding the stitch, a process called Channelled Stitching.

To complete the sole the inside corner of the heal is removed, creating a Gentleman's Corner which reduces trouser snagging for the wearer.
